Stand where the character should appear and create it. The studio opens immediately. Shift-right-click a character to edit it again. Administration requires dungeonforge.admin.
- Name and skin: choose a display name and Minecraft username. Skin lookup uses Minecraft’s profile system; unknown names or connection failures can leave the default skin visible.
- Dialogue: separate up to 20 lines with
|; each click advances a line.%player%becomes the visitor’s name. - Outfit: copy your armor and both held items without consuming them. Individual slots are
head, chest, legs, feet, hand, andoffhand. - Dungeon action: link a published dungeon. After the conversation, another click starts the run. Party leadership and player permissions still apply.
- Access and behavior: optionally require an interaction permission, toggle looking at visitors, move the NPC, or delete it through confirmation.
Type - in the editor to clear an optional field. An empty main hand clears an equipment slot. Current studio NPCs are stationary humanoids; existing villager shop, healer, and buff markers remain a separate dungeon feature.
Saved characters
Definitions live in npc-studio.yml. Characters return when their chunks load. Edits save atomically every 10 seconds and during orderly shutdown; a sudden crash can lose recent unsaved edits. Invalid data disables editing and preserves the original file. The default limit is 500 characters, set by npc-studio.max-npcs.
